DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON FOOL’S GOLD
Play the authentic Lode Runner… this is the real deal!

AWARD WINNING GAMEPLAY
Lode Runner Classic combines the game play and all 150 levels of the award-winning Apple II original Lode Runner with graphics and features engineered for todays advanced smartphones. The games frantic action takes place in maze-like, static levels, where a single player dodges enemies while running and climbing to reach and claim stacks of gold. No jumping is allowed. And shooting enemies is forbidden, but you can blast blocks to access lower platforms or trap pursuing enemies. Winding your way through ever-increasing levels of complexity makes for a superior challenge, but now you can choose to play any one of the 150 levels at any time.

EXCITING NEW FEATURES
Although the gameplay remains true to the original Apple II version, there are plenty of new features to enhance the experience. You can magnify the screen around the Runner, set the play speed, adjust the coloring of the art and compete for top spot on the worldwide leaderboards.

•150 puzzling levels – all unlocked and accessible
•Two game modes – Expedition and Time Attack
•New magnification effect – zoom the action around the Runner
•Multiple play speeds – super slow to superfast action
•Fully adjustable color palettes
•Worldwide leaderboards
•Multiple control schemes
•Illustrated How to Play section

"When the first Lode Runner came out on the Apple II, the last thing I expected was that the game would be alive and kicking on a platform as advanced as today’s smartphones more than 25 years later. Its really gratifying to me that so many people are still interested in the game."
Douglas E. Smith, Original Creator

“In the early days, there was Lode Runner. I consider it a real puzzle game. That was my favorite for many, many years. It’s such a good combination of dynamic stuff, the finger-work, and real planning and puzzle-solving. Every level was a real puzzle with its own mechanics, its own dynamics, its own kind of solution. At the same time, it was an arcade game to play. This combination was done absolutely right. I can’t imagine any other game with such inventive and unusual design.”
Alexey Pajitnov, Tetris Creator

Pros and cons of Lode Runner Classic app for iPhone and iPad

Lode Runner Classic app good for

Wondering if this game is available for OS X. While the mobile (iOS) version is convenient I find it difficult to play. Would much rather play on the bigger screen of my Mac.
This is good, but bad guys are sometimes behave strangely ( I should replay the original to compare ). The biggest issue for me is that there is no neutral point at the center of the cross to stop without removing the thumb. Please dear developers. It will be much more usable !! Is there any iPad version on its way ( Not zoomed ) ?
Once I adjusted to the virtual d pad, this plays identical to the original, including all the little tricks I used in 1984 There is a "cheat". Leave the app if you are trapped or just lost a life but dont press retry. When you reopen the level will reset but you wont lose a life
Thie game is great. The game reminds me my childhood. Played upto lv 20. and will finish upto lv 150, but not easy tho.
This was the best game I had in the eighties!! Thanks for bringing it back!!
Great game. Thanks for bringing back this incredible game from the 80s! But some guy is cheating. How can you finish level 4 in under 5 seconds? Please fix.

Some bad moments

Im a big LR fan, since 1984! But Tozai didnt find a way to make the game conveniently playable. 1) Music and sound: No way to cut the Music and keep the runner sound. Either have both, with the irritating music, or nothing. 2) Control: Basically, control the runner with D-pad, Touch, or Accelerometer. - Accelerometor is bugged. - D-pad has buttons that take 2/3 of the screen! The remaining 1/3 is a tiny tiny window... Guys, this game runs on a phone!! - Touch could be good, but practically this implementation makes it hard to play, and error prone. - no easy way to switch between the controls (have to go back, settings, ...) - does not save between apps switch, start from scratch each time And cherry on the cake: iOS warns you at first start that this app is so badly written that it may shorten your battery life.... Way overpriced.
Spent $3 on this game only to hate it. The controls are terrible and only work half the time. Very disappointing. Ill probably just delete it off my phone. What a shame.
The gameplay is good and very close to the original version, but the app always crash during entering the settings. Fix it and then you get 5 stars.
What a shame to see such a great classic being rendered so unplayable by horrible control schemes. Even with "touch mode" which is by far the most playable scheme it is still extremely hard to properly navigate the character, which is unfortunate given how little time enemies leave you to escape in many situations. If the controls were properly thought out I would have given the game 4 stars, as it is, it takes great effort and pain to play a few levels before frustration sets in for good and although I often come back to retry it, the bad controls prevent me from insisting any further. A sad fate for such a historic and iconic game.
The game is fun but the controls can stick. It gets annoying when you lose a life over lag in the game.
Cant recall how many late nights I had pounding through levels on our Apple //e. Really glad to see this one on the app store. (Been following it for a while.) I took off one star simply because its not truly a faithful port. Gameplay and levels are there, but some of the details have been changed. The gold doesnt look as it used to, nor do some of the animations, the way the bad guys stack onto each other, etc. It is a good recreation, but its not really a port. Still, if you liked Lode Runner, this is a must have. The controls are quite serviceable and, well, its Lode Runner. :)
